The Moses Plan
MotivationMoses was 120 years old when he died, yet his eyesight was clear, and he was as strong as ever. Deuteronomy 34:7
Do you want to live to 100? Have you thought about it? Nowadays it’s kind of a double-edged sword. I think most people would say, “Yes, I’d like to live to 100 but…I don’t want to have major health challenges, live in an assisted living home or have to drive one of those carts around Wal-Mart.” Most of you would say, “I want the Moses Plan.”
What is the Moses plan you ask? I really don’t know either but we can take some guesses. We can be certain he wasn’t on the Adkins, Pritikin, Grapefruit, Twinkie, ________(insert your fav diet here) diet. And I know he wasn’t Sweating to the Oldies, doing the Perfect Push Up, or even Crossfitting (but I’m sure he would’ve liked this one). What did Moses do? He worked as a shepherd for a time. He walked every where. He climbed mountains. He also ate good food. I’m not sure what manna is or what it consists of but if God gives you food, it’s got to be good!
So what can we do to ensure good health as we age? Move your body and eat good quality food. Since you and I don’t typically work in harsh environments that challenge us physically anymore, we need to approximate it by working out at the gym or in a bootcamp. Even though we don’t have access to “bread from Heaven,” we can eat foods that God made versus foods that have man-made chemicals.100 years of high quality living is easier to obtain when we keep our bodies in motion and feed it properly.
In his book, Blue Zones, Dan Buettner describes several population groups that have a high proportion of centenarians, persons 100 years old or older. At the end of each chapter, he quick hits what we’ve learned about the group. In each one, diet and exercise along with friendships and social enteractions seem to play a key role in thier longevity and vitality.
Develop your Moses Plan- get moving, eat good, and enjoy your family and friends. At BFC Bootcamp- we workout hard and enjoy each other. That’s two out of three. Find your manna- as in, dial in your diet to real foods and you’ll be set! I’ve always said I want to live to 120. God-willing I’m going to try to make it there with vigor!
